U.S. Senator John Kennedy addressed nearly 160 business leaders, elected officials and community representatives at a Congressional Update breakfast held by the Chamber at Tchefuncte Country Club. Attendees included leaders from the Chamber, local parishes, the state legislature and the school board.

Senator Kennedy began with positive news, highlighting that St. Tammany Parish has received $500 million in federal funding for various projects since he took office. He went on to discuss critical national and regional issues, including FEMA flood guidelines, bipartisan collaboration in the Senate, the federal budget, and the challenges posed by rising living costs—describing them as “the number one cancer of the American Dream.”

He also addressed declining voter turnout, emphasizing the importance of civic engagement. “If dead people can vote, so can you!” he quipped, drawing laughter from the audience. He concluded with a promise to remain steadfast in his advocacy, stating, “I can’t promise I’ll win every fight, but I will never quit fighting.”

The event offered attendees valuable insights into pressing legislative topics and reinforced the importance of ongoing collaboration between federal representatives and local leaders to address the challenges facing Northshore communities.
