Pat’s Rest Awhile is the Chamber’s 2021 Site-to-See—Mandeville Award recipient bestowed to a business that enhances the appearance of its community by either their interior or exterior appearance.
On a two-acre parcel of land on the Mandeville Lakefront, this establishment was previously a hotel in the 1880’s and then a retreat. Hurricane Katrina heavily damaged it, leaving it for decay. When Barrett and Jill purchased the property in February 2014, only three structures remained. Previous cottages on the property had either been moved or demolished, damaging the historic integrity of the site. Jill and Barrett’s goal was to retain the historic fabric of the site and put it back into commerce. After seven years of restoration, the doors opened in late 2020. As Jill said, “this is an iconic property, Pat Gallagher is an icon in the restaurant industry. The marriage of the property and the proprietor will surely make for a great place to eat, drink, and relax.”
The award was presented at the Chamber’s annual Business Appreciation Luncheon in November 2021. Accepting the award was Pat Gallagher.
