Last week, our Small Business Council brought members together for a timely Lunch & Learn: “Don’t Say AI — Rethinking How We Talk About Technology.” The conversation, led by David Shapiro of NorthShore Robotics and Steven Cochran of Impression MGMT, offered different perspectives on how artificial intelligence is showing up in today’s workplace.

From practical uses like writing and planning to bigger questions around accuracy, trust and the role of human judgment, the discussion covered both the opportunities and the challenges. While perspectives varied, one thing was clear—AI isn’t going anywhere. The real value comes from how thoughtfully we use it.

Members walked away with a better understanding that this isn’t just a technology conversation. It’s about communication, connection and keeping the human element at the center of business.
