Our Northshore Young Professionals gathered recently for a luncheon focused on a topic many are thinking about early in their careers: how to get involved in board leadership. Sponsored by Ochsner Health, the conversation—“How to Be on a Board Under 40”—featured a panel of local leaders sharing real-world insight and advice.
Moderated by Leslie Landry of Northshore Community Foundation, the panel included:
- Matt Guidry, The St. Tammany Farmer / NOLA.com
- Scott Discon, Discon Law Firm and City of Mandeville Councilman-at-Large
- Cody dePascual, Hancock Whitney and Hospice House board chair
Panelists talked about how board service helps young professionals grow as leaders, expand their networks and make a meaningful impact in the community. They also shared practical advice on how boards recruit members, what skills are most valuable and how to take the first step toward getting involved. The conversation gave attendees a clearer picture of what it takes—and why it matters—to serve and lead early in your career.
