Congress Again Temporarily Extends National Flood Insurance Program:
On Tuesday, June 4, Congress passed an extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) until September 30 as part of the disaster relief bill. Your Chamber is working with GNO, Inc., to monitor the progress of reauthorization. GNO, Inc. and others are working to make real reforms to the NFIP that include affordability, better risk assessment, improving mitigation options, and increasing participation along with a long-term reauthorization before September 30. They expect legislative activity to occur on reform bills in the House Financial Services Committee this summer.
