Legislative wrap-up, hurricane tips & more
Over 120 chamber members and community leaders heard firsthand facts from our delegation during our annual Legislative Wrap-Up Luncheon yesterday. As the voice of business, we received affirmation that issues citizens want addressed need to bubble up from the movers and shakers like Chamber leadership.
Among the several issues presented:
Hwy. 3241 to Bogalusa which has been planned for over 30 years was finally approved this session.
While $18 million in debt remains in the state retirement system, there have been many good changes with positive impacts for the future.
Overall, the system is broken but our delegation is willing to work to find ways to fix it.
Also explained was how DOTD prioritizes projects as well as the governors’ input.
