Northshore Technical Community College was recognized with the Chamber’s 2025 Innovation Award for its forward-thinking approach to education and workforce development. This award celebrates organizations that demonstrate “out-of-the-box” thinking and creativity across all aspects of their operations.

The college has reimagined how education and workforce development are delivered. They’ve embraced artificial intelligence throughout their programs, providing both staff and students with training that empowers them to integrate AI into learning, teaching, and daily operations. Through platforms like ConnexED, they have enhanced the student experience with AI-driven communication tools that improve engagement and expand access to important resources, including mental health support.

Innovation also extends to programs that are transforming student opportunities. Dual enrollment participation has reached record-breaking levels, allowing thousands of high school students to earn college credit and career credentials while still in school. Through strategic efforts in advancement, the scholarship program has grown from just six awards and one ceremony in 2016 to 76 scholarships and three annual recognition events in 2025—a powerful example of how creativity, community partnerships, and forward-thinking strategies can open doors for learners at every level.

Through these efforts, Northshore Technical Community College is not just keeping pace with the future of education, they are shaping it.

The Innovation Award was presented by Sandy Badinger of Slidell Memorial Hospital and accepted by Chancellor Dr. Jim Carlson.
