Our Chamber recently joined more than 600 organizations in urging the U.S. Senate to prioritize bipartisan, comprehensive permitting reform. Modernizing the federal permitting process would help move infrastructure, energy, and broadband projects forward faster—supporting investment, creating jobs, and driving economic growth both regionally and nationwide.

Why it matters to our communities: outdated and inefficient permitting processes often delay critical projects, increasing costs and slowing the benefits that families and businesses rely on—better transportation networks, modernized water systems, affordable energy and expanded broadband access.

The House of Representatives set an encouraging precedent by passing several important permitting reform bills in late 2025, showing bipartisan recognition that our current system needs modernization. Now it’s time for the Senate to build on that momentum and deliver meaningful reform.

A modernized permitting system not only helps us build faster but also gives communities and businesses confidence to invest.
