The Chamber welcomed a strong turnout for last week’s Tourism’s Economic Impact Luncheon at The Southern Hotel, where business and community leaders gathered to hear from Louisiana Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser. His presentation highlighted the critical role tourism plays in the state’s economy and its growing influence here in St. Tammany.

Lt. Governor Nungesser shared Louisiana’s impressive rebound in visitor numbers since the pandemic, the expansion of international tourism markets, and the success of statewide initiatives—including Mardi Gras promotions, sports tourism and strategic partnerships—that have elevated the visibility of local attractions.

He also highlighted opportunities for the Northshore in areas such as state parks, cultural events, and sports tournaments—all of which generate tax revenue, support jobs, and enhance quality of life in our community.
