Members of the Louisiana House of Representatives from St. Tammany, Washington and Tangipahoa parishes, together with leaders of their Chambers of Commerce, are pictured at the State Capitol.

Chamber Chairman Carrie Calvin and Chamber CEO Lacey Osborne recently met with members of the Northshore legislative delegation for a working lunch in the Members’ Lounge at the Louisiana State Capitol. The gathering brought together all Northshore House members alongside business leaders from the St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington Parish Chambers of Commerce.

The setting allowed for meaningful, one-on-one conversations with legislators about their sponsored legislation and key policy issues, including insurance and tort reform—topics of significant importance to Chamber members and citizens across the state. The meeting followed a notable milestone, as the Governor had signed five tort reform bills into law the day prior, adding a celebratory tone to the discussion.

With legislators balancing committee responsibilities and daily sessions on the House and Senate floors, the opportunity for direct engagement is especially valuable. Despite demanding schedules, our elected officials consistently express their appreciation for connecting with constituents at the Capitol and value the time taken by local business leaders to make the trip. These conversations reinforce the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to advocacy and to strengthening relationships that advance a positive business climate for the Northshore.
